It's Independence Day!

July 4, 2007

Time for Family get together's, neighborhood block parties, The United States Flag Out in abundance, Cookouts, Going to the Lake, Swimming. No matter how you celebrate it-It is Independence Day!

Most of all, We celebrate our Freedom!

When I was a child grown up. I only lived about 5 mintues from one set of grandpartents and about 15 mintues from the other set. The weekend before the 4th we would go to my paternal grandparents to watch fireworks and to have homemade Sloppy Joes (My Aunt Luanne makes a wonderful from scratch crockpot sloppy joes, I have been trying to get the recipe from her for years!) French Fries and lots of desserts. My grandfather always bought about $500 worth of fireworks. He, my dad and uncles would shot them off for us. I have 18 cousins on this side of my family.

Then on 4th of July itself, we would spend with my maternal grandparents. We would cookout with them, have the potato salad, maccorni salad, corn on the cob. Ribs, hamburgers, and hot dogs on the grill. As well as desserts. I have 9 cousins on this side. And most of the time the cousins around my age never came, however, I loved it. We would leave around 11 to go and play board games all day long. It was a BLAST!

Now, times have changed. I live 12 hours away from my extended family. We don't really buy fireworks except for the occational sparkler. But our sky line just glows at night with all the beautiful fireworks we can see from our house.

Have a SAFE and wonderful INDEPENDENCE DAY!
